Growing Christmas trees is big business around the world, especially in the United States. The National Christmas Tree Association reports there are close to 15,000 Christmas tree farms in the U.S. These farms employ over 100,000 people in full or part-time jobs. Growing a Christmas tree to the typically desired height of 6 to 7 feet can take as long as 15 years. Some can reach this height in as little as 4 years but on average, it takes 7 years to get a Christmas tree to optimum height for sale.
